RENEE HONG THERAPY
individual therapy
I provide individual therapy for children ages 6 and up, adolescents, transitional age youth, and adults. The standard fee for individual therapy is $150 per 50-minute appointment.
Therapy will look different for each developmental stage of life but always includes one-on-one time dedicated to processing and understanding emotions, events, and relationships that are important in your life.
There is a misconception that therapy is for "sick" people only. Therapy is, in fact, all about personal growth—and that is not limited only to the painful periods of our lives. Therapy provides a safe space to explore any and all of your concerns free of judgment, and to receive feedback that is designed to challenge you to move beyond emotional blocks and limiting behaviors. I believe that therapy is a necessary component of preventative healthcare, in that increased introspection and the development of behaviors that promote self-compassion increases our resilience and connection to others.

Individual therapy is broken down into three treatment phases. The initial phase involves assessment and evaluation of your current needs and past history to identify meaningful treatment goals. The second (and longest) phase consists of collaborative work towards your chosen goals. The final phase consolidates your treatment gains and lays the groundwork for continued growth beyond the ending of our therapeutic relationship. Everyone's healing journey is different, and the length of treatment depends on the nature of your concerns, situation, goals for therapy, and engagement in the process.

Confidentiality is a large component of what makes individual therapy so effective. With the exception of circumstances relating to the safety of yourself and others, everything that is discussed in session or maintained in your health record is completely private. You have control over the release of your protected health information, including whether you decide to utilize any health insurance (doing so waives your right to confidentiality regarding certain aspects of your treatment, including any diagnoses, which is part of the contractual agreement with your insurance provider).
Individual therapy is, at its core, client-focused. I am here to facilitate your healing process and offer structure to guide you in gaining a better understanding of yourself, making the changes that will improve your life, and increasing your sense of fulfillment. You ultimately control the pace of your treatment and direct the overall goals. Therapy is what you make of it.
