LMFT #127699

RH Profile Picture.jpg

Hi there! My name is Renee Hong, and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California  (LMFT #127699). I am bilingual English/Vietnamese, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I earned my B.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Soka University of America and my Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Southern California.

As a queer, bicultural, disabled woman, I understand how the intersection of various identities can drastically affect our life experiences and emotional wellbeing. I emphasize multicultural therapy in my work with clients and take an integrative, client-centered approach that draws from psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness.

I am passionate about working with children and transitional age youth (TAY) between the ages of 16-25. Youth can struggle with identity confusion, especially if involving minority or cultural factors, and therapy is a safe space in which they can explore, solidify, and gain comfort in their burgeoning identities. I help youth clients with emotional regulation through skills building, distress tolerance, and mindfulness in order to reduce the intensity of the adolescent and TAY experience.

professional experience

Since 2017, I have worked with adults, children, and families of diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have experience in school, community mental health, and virtual outpatient settings where I treated a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. I provided individual, family, and group therapy in addition to assessment, diagnosis, risk management, and resource linkage.
